Squiggles Will Shape the AI Era
Early in my career, a Managing Director told me something I'll never forget.
He said, "Malak, I've figured it out. You're a squiggle in a square world."
At the time, I was trying to find my "box" in a sea of linear thinkers. I was motivated by curiosity, not just corporate metrics. I had a different perspective on every topic that often didn't fit the standard-issue professional mold.
I sometimes wondered if being a "squiggle" was a liability. Today, in the age of AI, it's my greatest asset.
AI is often presented as a world of "squares" where enterprise solutions and "tech bro" jargon leave the average person overwhelmed. But we can unlock its true capability by partnering it with our human "squiggles":
- AI gives time back to the caregivers and "non-tech" professionals who have been left out of the conversation.
- While AI generates data, it cannot replicate the lived experience and human connectedness that a "squiggle" brings. It helps manage different streams of thought and projects.
- It solves real-world problems, from helping kids with homework to streamlining home management. AI can help lighten your life load.
What I'm reinforcing is that if you've ever felt like a squiggle in a square world, the future is for us.
