Designing for Agency: The Invisible Thread Behind My Career Journey
As a teenager, I made cool clothes and accessories for myself because I wanted something that didn't exist in the stores.
Eventually, I began selling many of those things because others recognized them as interesting and different from the standard-issue teen girl apparel in the malls. They were sometimes small things. Always handmade things.
Earning my own money gave me the space to move, choose, and breathe.
No one starts off in the world knowing what the word “entrepreneur” means. I just knew I didn’t like feeling contained. That instinct never left.
Years later, people labeled me as a builder, operator, advisor, investor, etc. Behind all these titles, the narrative was always the same: build, support, and stay close to ideas.
When I look back now, the pattern is clear - I’ve always been designing for agency. The titles just all fell in line.
PS: Shout out to Gemini for creating this teen image of me.
